Introduction

Jacqueline Hayden specialises ECD analyses and developments at global and international levels, with a special focus on young children who experience emergency situations and/or fragile contexts and therole of the early childhood sector in terms of social change and economic development(s).

Jacqueline has worked in majority world or under resourced contexts on most continents. She has recently returned to academia after spending several years as the Manager for Social Inclusion and Respect for Diversity at the Bernard van Leer Foundation, Netherlands. The foundation distributes over $35 million AUD annually to support early childhood programs for disadvantaged populations around the globe (See www.bernardvanleer.org). Jacqueline has also worked for, consulted to, or volunteered for several international/development projects including

- Advising on ECD developments in Timor Leste (OSI)
- Review of disaster risk reduction processes in Asia Region
- Assessment of services for children aged 0-8 affected and infected with HIV/AIDS in Namibia, (University of Namibia) Development of Service Plan for vulnerable and homeless children in Mauritius (UNICEF)
- Assessment and development of services for orphans and abandoned children in Zimbabwe (Sincerutty Trust Foundation)
